Jason Voorhees DIY Costume Guide with Mask

It’s that time of year again, when the leaves turn red and gold and the wind whispers of death and destruction. Yes, it’s Halloween, and what better way to celebrate this most unholy of holidays than by donning the guise of the one and only, the king of the slashers, Jason Voorhees.

Despite Jason’s many wardrobe changes, a new classic style was formed in Friday the 13th Part 3. When paying homage to the slasher, many people choose to dress up like this.

The simple plastic mask that Jason wears over his face before going out for his next kill—the hockey mask—is what gives Jason his actual identity as a killer and, by extension, why we all adore him so much.

The rest of the costume, however, can be put together quickly and easily because its components are all commonplace and comfy.

On Halloween night, the streets will be crawling with Jasons, each one more committed than the last to completing his or her heinous purpose. And if you think you hear a machete at your door, it’s usually already too late.

Hockey Mask

The first time viewers see Jason without his trademark hockey mask is in Part 3 of the Friday the 13th films, and the effect is so unsettling that he keeps wearing it throughout the sequels and prequels.

This mask, along with the machete and the ax, is all it takes to transform into the legendary Jason Voorhees. It is reminiscent of a hockey mask worn by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1950s.

The costume is easy to put together and should be comfortable to wear, plus you probably already have at least some of the components lying around.

It shouldn’t be too difficult or expensive to reproduce the full costume, as all of the necessary components can be purchased there or at a thrift or department store.

About Jason Voorhees’ Look in Friday the 13th

Jason is the son of a camp cook who turned into a killer known as Mrs. Voorhees. Originally, he wasn’t supposed to be the main antagonist of the film, but he has since been represented in video games, novels, comic books, and even a film that featured another horror film character, Freddy Krueger.

In the final installment of the film series, Jason possesses superhuman strength and the ability to regenerate his body. Some viewers have even come to feel sorry for Jason, who is supposed to have been driven to murder by his victims’ immoral behavior and his own resentment at having been drowned as a youngster.

Additionally, Jason’s popularity has skyrocketed in the years since the first film was released, and his hockey mask is now a globally known emblem of evil.

Wrapping Up

Becoming Jason from the Friday the 13th movies is easy if you know what to look for because the costume is a basic rendition of the type of work clothes people wear every day of the year.

You can buy clothing that is made out of cotton for extra comfort, and if you can’t find a work shirt in olive green, you can use beige or brown instead.

With some simple items, you will transform into one of the most intimidating horror icons on the convention floor or halloween party.
